Warriors All-Stars: Will it be rare?
Author: Nir Regev Publication Date: 01/26/2018
Warriors All-Stars will likely be a rare video game in the coming years as a niche title in a already niche genre. Does that mean Warriors All-Stars will soar to astronomical heights in the reseller market? Unlikely, even the most expensive Dynasty Warriors related item on Ebay at the time of this post is selling for around $467 + shipping from Japan.
However, consider that Warriors All-Stars does not just feature characters from the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series. It includes the very popular Kasumi [who also appeared in Warriors Orochi 3] from the Dead or Alive series, William Adams from the recently wildly popular Nioh, Ryu Hayabusa and Ayane from Ninja Gaiden among others.
Crossover titles have natural demand because there's more fans of the characters/intellectual property. Regardless of the lukewarm reviews on Metacritic [70 Critic Score, 7.2 User Score], the title will come to be a rare find in a few years from now. After its initial print run sells out at a reduced cost [$19.99 to its original $39.99], there's unlikely to be a second one arriving. Meaning, Warriors All-Stars will be an obscure video game to locate.
Player Advice: If you're interested in dabbling in the easily accessible gameplay, $19.99 is a very good entry price. Can it go lower? Possibly but it may also sell out if you care about new sealed copies. Not too mention if you just want to play as Kasumi, William, or Ryu in a Dynasty Warriors setting, this is as close to a side-entry franchise as you're going to get.
Reseller's Advice: If you're looking to rake in the big bucks from a potentially low risk, high reward item look elsewhere. Even the older Dynasty Warrior titles don't fetch the type of prices that would make it a worthwhile hold if you're looking to 'short' the tile in the next few 2-3 years. If you're gonna play the long game, sure by all means.
Collector's Advice: Low print run, niche genre, obscure game with crossover characters means Warriors All-Stars will not be around forever in sealed copy form. If you're a collector looking to complete your Dynasty Warriors collection or even Dead or Alive/Ninja Gaiden collection, don't wait too long. You'd be surprised how quickly readily available price reduced items vanish into the pre-owned only stage. Especially important if you're a sealed game collector. The time is now to buy Warriors All-Stars.
