Titanfall 2’s Standard and Deluxe editions (PS4/Xbox One) are both on sale for $24.99 (GCU: $19.99) as Best Buy’s Deal of the Day.
Titanfall 2 was only released on October 28th, 2016, quite recent. It continues the trend of last Holiday season’s game dropping in price rapidly. Titanfall 2’s Deluxe Edition originally retailed for $79.99, so it’s an immense drop. It’s unclear why both the standard and deluxe editions are on sale for the same price and one (standard edition) isn’t lower than the other. Best Buy might be trying to clear stock.
While Titanfall 2 didn’t set the world on fire or create hype the way the first one was suppose to turn the genre upside down, it was a well reviewed game. It averaged 89%/87% (PS4/Xbox One) on Metacritic. User reviews on the site were pretty similar averaging an 8.4/8.1 (PS4/Xbox One). Meaning there wasn’t too much mainstream review inflation, it stayed consistent.
Titanfall 2 Resale Value: Sticker Price
It’s a domestic born US made game by a relatively new studio published by EA. It’s unlikely to hold resale value past the original sticker price, though the Deluxe Edition may go up in coming years. Titanfall 2 likely had a large print run as most games from EA do, EA games typically are heavily printed and discounted. Though a bit less than say a Ubisoft game. This is not a game deal made for hoarding with future ambitions. This is a game deal for gamers looking to try out the new Titanfall or get into the series for the first time.
Titanfall 2 Rarity: Common
It’s not going to be too rare of a game. You don’t have to keep it sealed (unless you want to), chances are it will be available for years to come, no resellers needed. It’s unlikely you’ll have to scour eBay to find someone selling a new copy of Titanfall 2.
