Pros
If you're a Fallout franchise fan looking to collect everything related to the series, you're probably not going to find a better deal than $2.99 for the steelbook in new condition.
A chance to purchase new at a bargain price before it becomes a secondary market item exclusively.
Cons
Shipping more expensive than actual deal if not picking up in-store.
Fallout 76 is not currently held in the highest of regard. Resale speculation wise, though a new condition steelbook will naturally rise to more than $2.99... It will be capped by the game's overall perception and Metacritic User Score.

Collectors of everything Fallout have an opportunity to add the Fallout 76 Steelbook to their collection at a bargain price of $2.99 over at Best Buy. Now shipping is $3.99, more than the deal itself, which could stop the deal in its tracks for some. However, the Steelbook might be available locally in your town’s Best Buy, taking the shipping cost out of the equation. Future resale value on the secondary market will definitely rise above $2.99 for a ‘New’ condition copy but this is not an item to hoard for resale purposes. Fallout 76 did not fare well with fans with a low Metacritic User score whether on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One so this is one for the true fans. The type that wants to ‘collect them all’ so to speak but has been scared off by Fallout 76’s icy response to invest until now.

Fallout Collector’s items in general might have lost some of their prestige post-recall of the Fallout Power Armor helmets due to mold as reported by CNET. A quick search on eBay will yield quite a few Fallout 76 Steelbooks at prices at similar, marginally higher prices. The primary difference being quite a few are pre-owned and the usual question of authenticity for new copies without an assuring mark like seal apparent. If you’re looking to definitively get a New condition Fallout 76 Steelbook, the price is unlikely to get any lower, Metacritic perception or not.

Once Best Buy sells out of the stock for these, it’s pretty much a wrap on guaranteeing yourself a New copy. Prices will obviously rise in the secondary market to reflect the change once it happens, and while it’s unlikely to drastically go up, it will still be more. To be clear though, this isn’t a Resident Evil 2 Steelbook situation, the rarity of this Steelbook is still considered fairly common.

It all comes down to how big of a Fallout collector you are. Are you intent on collecting as many items from the series as reasonably possible? Are you a collector of gaming Steelbooks? Or are you casually interested and significantly deterred by the price of shipping costing more than the Steelbook in question? There’s likely some time to decide on these but stock will not last forever…

Discount Percentage: The sale price for the Fallout 76 Steelbook is 50% off than its already discounted $5.99 current regular price.
